Description
The City of Vancouver Public Art Program along with Real Estate, Environment and Facilities Management invites artists from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations to apply for We Are Weaving, a new public art opportunity commissioning six Coast Salish woven blankets. These works will become permanent installations in the atrium of Vancouver City Hall. The project aims to celebrate the weaving traditions of the three local Nations, honour intergenerational knowledge transfer, and support the cultural presence of Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples in the public realm. Artists may apply individually or in pairs. (Artist pairs will each create one weaving.)
