Building Together III: SoundStrike
Currently Arts Society (CAS) presents the third edition of our self-made instrument workshop series: “Building Together III: SoundStrike.” We are accepting applications from artists across disciplines (no sound or instrument building experience required) to participate in a 4-part workshop that will culminate into a public exhibition/concert of completed works. This edition will focus on percussion-based instruments and sound sculptures, there will be no limitation on materials, acoustic or electric instrument choices.
We will be prioritizing selecting artists that have not participated in our previous workshop.
Artistic Goals
The goal of the project is to design and build a percussion sound sculpture, instrument, or sound object with the support and mentorship of sound artists and instrument builders Roxanne Nesbitt and Anju Singh. We hope to develop more interest and excitement in instrument building and self-made sound sources for artists across disciplines to use in their projects.
How to Apply
Apply December 8th, 2025 at midnight. Late applications will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
Application Process
We will be reviewing all applications on December 10th and reaching out to artists following our review.
Please note that we will be prioritizing providing space to artists from marginalized groups as per our Society and programming mandates.
Fees
There is no cost to participate in the workshop. We will provide participating artists with a material honorarium of $350 and an exhibition fee of $500 to present their works in a group concert.
