Young People's Theatre (YPT) is searching for candidates to fill the seasonal position of Junior Operations Assistant, reporting to the Director of Operations. The position will provide career-related work experience commensurate to ability and/or aptitude, expanding capacity for skill development as a general labourer/tradesperson. The position will offer opportunities through hands-on learning in a supportive real-world environment.
This is a Canada Summer Jobs position commencing June 30 and ending on August 22, 2025. This position pays $17.50/hour for 35 hours a week.
This position is entirely on-site, and will be based at 165 Front St E and 161 Frederick St in Toronto ON, with duties being performed both indoors and outdoors.
Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
• Perform general maintenance and repairs, routine inspections
• Perform custodial services as assigned by management
• Prepare/set up rooms for various events/activities
• Assist with Information Technology (IT)
• Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required
• Assist in supporting other departments or events as requested by management
• Interface with service providers and external contractors
• Perform other facilities duties as required including but not limited to security and fire
safety related tasks
• Be available for occasional evening and weekend work as required
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Creative problem solving and strong sense of curiosity
• Goal oriented
• Able to perform physical tasks that require a hands-on approach
• Comfortable working with various tools such as power tools and hand tools
• Comfortable performing physical activities such as: lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling
• Good communication skills
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, individuals must:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
** International students are not eligible participants. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
