Submission Deadline: September 30, 2024
Exhibition Dates: January 24 – February 2, 2025 (DesignTO Festival)
Overview
As a collective, Dying.series creates events that foster conversations about death and dying, offering opportunities to engage with diverse perspectives through art, design works, and participatory experiences. For 2025, their upcoming exhibit, titled Dying.MultipleEndings, aims to explore how the worlds of art, culture, and end-of-life in contemporary times intersect. The exhibit will showcase art and design pieces that encourage public interaction, provoke expression, and engage viewers on a deeper level.
Dying.MultipleEndings is envisioned as a catalyst for dialogue, empathy, and understanding about end-of-life, offering a variety of cultural perspectives on death. The exhibit seeks to involve the broader community by asking: What can individuals and communities learn from sharing experiences of death, dying, and loss? How can comfort be encouraged in conversations about dying and death?
Exhibition Information
Dying.MultipleEndings will be featured as part of the DesignTO Festival, running from January 24th to February 2nd, 2025, at a venue to be announced. Previous exhibitions have been held at notable locations, such as Artscape Youngplace and OCAD University Lobby Gallery, both in Toronto.
The exhibit welcomes various formats, including 2D, 3D, digital, installation, and multimedia works, all with a focus on audience participation. Selected artists will receive an honorarium based on the current CARFAC group exhibition rate and will be notified via email by the end of October.

Submissions are particularly encouraged from works that address issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion within these themes.
Artists should disclose any extraordinary considerations regarding the size or mounting of their pieces, particularly for works over 6’ x 12’, ceiling-mounted pieces, digital or tech requirements, or pieces needing a dark space. Such works will require additional review by the committee.
