Touring Conference For Presenters and Artists
Call for Submissions from IBPOC Performing Artists and Allies
Deadline: March 24, 2023
With funding from the Canada Council for the Arts and Toronto Arts Council, the wind in the leaves collective (witlc) is working with various presenters and producers to set up a touring network supporting multidisciplinary IBPOC artists and those who work with them.
Are you a multidisciplinary IBPOC artist or ally working with IBPOC artists? Do you have work ready to tour? We invite you to submit a video of your work to be shown at a conference for presenters in May 2023.
Presenter Partners: The organizations partnering with the witlc are: Canadian Stage (Toronto/Ontario), Decidedly Jazz (Calgary/Alberta), Westben Centre for Connection & Creativity through Music (Campbellford/Ontario), Atlantic Ballet (Moncton/New Brunswick), Sampradaya Dance Creations (Mississauga/Ontario), the Citadel + Compagnie (Toronto/Ontario). Each organization is very interested in supporting IBPOC and allied artists and understands the importance of presenting this work to their current audience and, as well, to build their audiences.
The Conference: The witlc has engaged the highly regarded bespoke collective to do a feasibility study aimed at exploring what will be needed to establish such a network (https://bespokecollective.ca/sabrinar). This study will explore the benefits, outcomes, structures and supports needed to establish a touring network for IBPOC and allied multi-disciplinary artists in dance, theatre, poetry/spoken word and music. Findings will be shared at the conference.
The purpose of the conference is to identify:
what is needed to establish such a network and how it will both support touring as well as building the capacities of those engaged to tour;
how each project partner can contribute to IBPOC touring and capacity building; and
who else can be involved in the building of this initiative.
Date: May 29/30, 2023
Submission Specs: As part of this conference, witlc is inviting video submissions from IBPOC performing artists and those allied with them, i.e., artists who work closely with IBPOC artists (allies and friends!). The purpose of this call is to create a video that will be looped during and after the conference and to present tour-ready work to the project partners we’re working with as well as to promote to others we will connect with. As such, all submissions must be:
A video not exceeding 5 minutes in MP4 format. Please see below for specs!
A description of the submitted work and how it is ready to tour;

We aim to select between 20 and 30 submissions and each selected artist will receive $200. The description of selected artists’ work, bio notes, contact information, websites will be included in the conference program and available online.
All submissions, including bios and description of work, must be sent by either wetransfer or drop box to [email protected] . If you have any questions, please send them to the same e-mail address.
