Seeking a variety of BIPOC artists and arts workers of all disciplines (including but not limited to literary, media, performing, visual arts, museums and galleries) to be interviewed online and recorded as case studies for Pathways, a free program that supports BC-based arts, culture, and heritage organizations and collectives as they continue to embed equity and access into their work. Pathways is a collaborative project undertaken by a consortium of Arts Service Organizations: Arts BC, Rural Arts Inclusion Lab, and Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance. Visceral Visions has been contracted to conduct and record 10 interviews/case studies.

Candidate requirements: 

• must be a BIPOC artist or arts worker
• must be a current resident in BC
• must be available to be interviewed some time between September 22 - November 15, 2026
• must be prepared to share an experience working in the arts, culture, or heritage sector in which 

        a) a challenging or controversial situation arose, which was resolved positively to your satisfaction; OR

        b) a production or organization had set up strong equity and/or accessibility policies, guidelines, and/or protocols that contributed to a positive work experience and relationships.

• must be prepared to share:
  • your role and what you were doing at the time
  • what was it that made the experience positive or what specific actions were taken to resolve the situation positively
  • 2 - 3 recommendations for other organizations to consider to make working with them positive and welcoming for BIPOC artists and/or arts workers

Other details:

• participants can choose to interview in audio or video format
• participants may request for the interview to be anonymous
• participants will have the opportunity to review and approve the final interview/materials before it is submitted to Pathways
• the organization that is the basis of the case study will not be explicitly named in the final version

Compensation of $500 per participant is to cover participant’s interview preparation time; up to an hour of interview time/recording; and timely review/approval of final case study video or audio recording.

Selected participants will be chosen to represent a diversity of racial background, gender, artistic discipline, and geographic region within BC, as well as the proposed case study. Please note that participants may choose to remain anonymous, and will have the opportunity to review and approve final case study before delivery to Pathways.
