Graphic Designer
Vancouver International Film Festival
Hybrid - In-office (Downtown Vancouver) and Remote.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Graphics Designer is responsible for designing and editing print and digital graphic materials for the 45th Vancouver International Film Festival, as well applying motion graphics to bring to life trailers, videos, and social media content. The ideal candidate is an innovative and creative designer who can conceptualize and develop graphics to enhance the 2026 Festival campaign.
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
• Support the design and creation of all print, digital and motion graphics for the 45th Vancouver International Film Festival, working within VIFF’s brand and Festival artwork guidelines.
• Create materials for Festival promotions and communications, including (but not limited to) advertising, social media graphics, web imagery, slides, resource guides and printed collateral.
• Produce motion graphics and video effects such as animated logos, titles, lower thirds, and graphic overlays, and bring to life existing Festival artwork for use in promotional trailers, social media content and on-screen event materials.
• Create print and digital signage, from directional posters used in venues to onscreen slideshows projected before screenings.
• Resize films stills and headshots for the website.
• Implement consistent brand identity across a diverse array of materials.
• Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Collaborate and communicate with the marketing department and key staff members to ensure organizational timelines, goals, and needs are addressed.
• Collaborate with VIFF’s video production and graphic design agency to incorporate existing Festival artwork and creative direction into work.
Qualifications
• 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator (intermediate level or above).
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere an asset.
• A demonstrated understanding of layout, type, and color.
• Experience with digital image preparation and colour correction.
• Experience working on large-scale, deadline-driven projects.
• Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
• Superior file management skills (tracking and archiving).
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Ability to work flexible hours as required, including some evenings and weekends.
• Have access to own equipment including computer with editing software and internet – both able to work with large files and high volume.
• Experience working with Asana, Slack, Dropbox and/or Filemaker an asset.
