Opportunity/Audition Description
Storytelling Workshop and Play Development Intensive
Open to emerging and early career artists, 19 years to 35, non-union performers finished or mid-training. Performers of all kinds are welcome to apply, including but not limited to opera singers, composers, dancers, circus performers, etc. English plus another language is a must. Special skills are welcome and encouraged, including but not limited to singing, playing instruments, movement, dance, martial arts, circus, choreography, etc. The more, the better.
The One of a Kind cast will
- create/rehearse/learn on Granville Island May 6th – 31st, 2024 (Mon - Fri 9 am - 5 pm)
- will perform on Granville Island May 28th to 2nd at the Nest Theatre - 1398 Cartwright St, 3rd Floor.
- will meet and work with professional producers, writers and directors
- will see shows from around the world, connecting with artists, directors etc.
- will receive a TYA performance fee for the one week at the Children’s Festival
The cast of the One of a Kind will receive a TYA performance fee for the one week at the Children’s Festival. Audition Date - September 2023 - date to be confirmed once applicants are chosen
Rehearsals Start on May 6th 2024 and run Monday through Friday (and a couple Saturdays)
Performances are May 28th through June 2nd, 2024 at the 47th Annual Vancouver International Children's Festival.
ONE OF A KIND — Deb Williams offers an intensive storytelling workshop and play development for emerging performers. She’ll share 35 years of storytelling and comedy knowledge, giving you tools to create and share compelling stories, one-person shows, and many other genres. This inclusive and supportive workshop is focused on learning and growth.
A select group of emerging artists will participate in a month-long workshop, creating a new piece of theatre for a one-week run at the Vancouver International Children’s Festival.
