Touchstone Theatre and Ruby Slippers Theatre are seeking a Vancouver-based actor for the role of 'JAY' in the world premiere co-production of Hurricane Mona by Pippa Mackie, directed by Roy Surette.
Hurricane Mona is a fast-paced, absurd, and catastrophic dark comedy about an upper-middle class family grappling with their lives at the center of the climate emergency.
Character Description for JAY:
- He and/or They. 19-21 years old – male or non-binary identifying.
- Gen Z introvert with a sensitive and biting edge, managing depression, lives at home with helicopter boomer parents Rick and Susan and sister Mona (who has just been given a house arrest sentence). Jay has a strong sense of self and a quiet but sharp sense of humour.
***Trigger warning: the character of Jay is referenced as suicidal.
CONTRACT: October 24 – December 3, 2023
READING/WORKSHOP: July 2023 TBD
REHEARSALS: October 24 – Nov 17, 2023. Tue to Sat, 10am – 6pm
PERFORMANCE: November 18 -December 3, 2023 at The Cultch, Historic Theatre.
