2024 Black History Month Exhibition

Artists are invited to submit proposals for a visual art exhibition at the Richmond Cultural Centre’s Upper Rotunda Gallery as part of Black History Month. Organized annually each February since 2016, the exhibition recognizes and honours the legacy, culture and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities. This program is presented by the City of Richmond in partnership with Richmond Black History Month.
Eligibility: Artists who identify as Black, artists of African descent or who are part of the African diaspora with priority to artists living and/or working in Richmond, BC.
Artists are not required to produce new artworks for the exhibition. Artwork should be prepared and ready to be installed by gallery staff. Additional public program opportunities such as an artist talk or workshop may be considered separately.
Please submit one document (PDF or Word) including:
- Artist Name and Contact Information
- Artist Bio (100 words max)
- Artist Statement (1 page max)
- Proposal Statement (1 page max)
- 5–7 high-resolution images of recent artwork or proposed artworks (JPEG/PDF, 1–2 MB, 300 PPI/DPI)
