Lauren M. Gunderson’s fresh adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women brings to life the beloved story of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—as they navigate the trials of growing up, finding their voices, and forging their futures. With their father away at war and their mother guiding them through new life experiences, the sisters discover the strength of family, the power of love, and the courage to dream beyond society’s expectations.

CURRENTLY CASTING FOR:
The pronouns and ages listed are descriptions of the characters. Actors are welcome to express interest in being seen for any role, regardless of gender or age.
Louisa / Jo March – Late Teens – 20s. she/her. Any Ethnicity. Independent, ambitious, and fiercely determined to pursue her dreams of becoming a writer. Jo is outspoken, and adventurous, with a visceral sense of justice and loyalty, but also self-critical and quick tempered.
Meg March - 20s. she/her. Any Ethnicity. The eldest March sister is responsible, compassionate, traditional, vibrant and full of romantic dreams. Meg is thoughtful, compassionate, and devoted to her sisters and Marmee.
Beth March – Late Teens – 20s. she/her. Any Ethnicity. Quiet, gentle, and musical. She is shy, selfless, and deeply empathetic. She is dedicated to the home and family.
*Playing the Piano would be an asset.
Amy March - Teens – 20s. she/her. Any Ethnicity. The youngest March sister. Amy is artistic, vivacious, determined and passionate.
Marmee March/Aunt March – 40s – 50s. she/her. Any Ethnicity. The mother of the March sisters is wise, nurturing, and compassionate, resilient, and patient. She guides her daughters toward selflessness and level-headedness, but also shares their verve, delight for life, family and independence. The Artist playing Marmee will also play Aunt March.
Aunt March – 70s. she/her. Any Ethnicity. Fussy, rich, judgmental. The Artist playing Aunt March will also play Marmee.
Laurie – Late Teens – 20s. he/him. Any Ethnicity. Wealthy, charming neighbor and close friend of the March sisters. He is adventurous, mischievous, and impulsive, with a playful spirit and a love for music and literature. Despite his privileged upbringing, Laurie is kind-hearted, loyal, and deeply devoted to the March family, especially Jo.
John/Friedrich/Mr. March/Laurence - Late 20s – 30s. he/him. Any Ethnicity. Laurie's tutor. He is intelligent, earnest, hardworking, and respectful, with a strong sense of duty and integrity. The Artist playing John also plays Mr. March (the March sister’s father), Mr. Laurence (Laurie’s Grandfather), and Friedrich.
Friedrich – 30s - 40s. he/him. Any Ethnicity. Generous German immigrant and intellectual. He is cultured, cheerful and kind-hearted, with a love for literature and philosophy. He embodies principles of intellect, integrity, and genuine affection. The Artist playing Friedrich will also play John, Mr. March, and Mr. Laurence.
*A Dialect Coach will be engaged to support with the German accent.
Standby: An Artist will be hired to Standby for the following tracks: Laurie (he/him), John (he/him), Mr. Laurence (he/him), Mr. March (he/him), and Friedrich (he/him).

Please be advised that the production design may require Artists to modify their hairstyles (any costs incurred for such changes will be reimbursed by the Theatre) or cover visible tattoos (at the Artist’s expense).
An Intimacy Director will be engaged to choreograph moments of Intimacy between the characters. Similarly, a Fight Director will be engaged to choreograph fight moments.
ACCESS AND INCLUSION:
Access and inclusion are incredibly important to us. In our audition and rehearsal spaces, our studios are situated on the first floor, ensuring convenient accessibility without needing to use stairs. Ample seating options are provided for Artists to use while waiting or taking breaks, along with two fully private washrooms within the premises. Clear signage will be prominently displayed throughout the space to offer guidance. Each studio is equipped with loading-sized doors, facilitating unimpeded entry for wheelchair users. Performances will take place at the Granville Island Stage, while we aspire for inclusivity and accessibility for all artists, regrettably, the current infrastructure does not accommodate wheelchair users.
For those artists who have barriers to access to any part of our process as laid out, please don't hesitate to reach out to us and we will happily work with you to allow you to show us your artistry in whatever format is easiest and accessible to you.
